We were invited to see a Blackhawk helicopter, one of two sent by the US to help out in relief aid to remote villages in northern Montenegro. While visiting with the U.S. soldiers, two turned out to be LDS, a pilot (on the left) in the picture and a medic (on the right). They are stationed out of Germany. They said that the snow was too deep to land in some places. They saw some houses buried up to the roof tops. Other areas were not clear enough from trees or wires, so they lowered the helicopter as low as possible and pushed the supplies out the door. The medic even repelled down with doctors and other medical personnel to help at certain times.
I don't know how I missed these posts when you last updated, but it must have been a really neat experience, both meeting the servicemen and also viewing the helicopter. Are things getting better on the ground as far as snow levels and people being able to get around?
