Feed My Sheep--July 8,9, 2012

When my grandsons Adam and Conor were small, one day Adam said to Conor, "Conor, did you know that we are God's sheep?  But we are a different kind of sheep.  We're not the kind that go 'baa.'"

Well, we were fed by a special guest this Sunday at Church.  He was a Church member from Serbia visiting Montenegro.   He was able to visit with our new member in his own language.

This week end we were able to tour the USS Winston Churchill Destroyer in the port of Bar, Montenegro.  We enjoyed the American experience, especially since this is the week of the 4th of July.

The U.S. military will share training with the Montenegrin military.  The Montenegrins will teach about search and rescue in the ocean.  They have a lot of coastline experience.

We visited the Monastery Ostrog, Montenegro's holiest shrine.

Valilije Jovanovic, later known as St. Basil, was the monk who oversaw the building of the monastery in the 1600's.  It was built in the side of the mountain for safety during the Ottoman Empire.  Basil was a miracle worker who healed the mentally and physically afflicted.

There are two small cave churches (each about 10' X 6') in the monastery.  One has frescos painted on the ceiling.  The other has St. Basil's coffin.  People continue to kiss the coffin for healing today.
