February 10, 2013--Carnival

We were invited to a Carnival held in Tuzi, just outside of Podgorica.

 

Carnival is a Catholic public gathering held before Lent begins.

 



Tuzi's Carnival was a dance program done by the children.

 

This is Beauty and the Beast.  If you look over the teapot's spout, you can see the prince in the distance that has emerged from the beast.

 

Another dance--a princess is spreading rose buds.

 

A warlock captures the beautiful princess.

 

The superheroes, Kore-Man, rescue the princess and put the warlock in jail.

Fun references were made to Batman, Superman, and Spiderman and how this superhero was greater than them all.

 

This is a dance of autumn and winter.

 

Vera was the lead dancer in the gangnam style dance made popular on youtube by the South Korean musician PSY.

 

 

She is a good dancer.

Nua was in the dance also.
Carnival lasts three days.  Lent then lasts 40 days to remember Jesus fasting for 40 days.  This leads up to Easter.

We have had some snow flurries but not enough for it to stick . . .yet.
